Changi Point Boardwalk

Unless you live near Changi Village, reaching Changi Point Boardwalk by public transport is going to take you a long time. We got down the wrong bus stop and ended up at Changi Beach. Since we were already there, we walked through Changi Village and even bought a kite even though we had no use for it. Trekking here under the sweltering heat can be a pain, but the sea breeze will take this fatigue along with it.

As some renovation works were ongoing, we could not access some parts of the boardwalk. Nothing lost though, as we had previously walked at the parts that were closed.

We walked along the Sailing Point Walk where we could see sailboats and yachts.

One can only be at peace while looking at the stationary sailboats bob up at down in the sea.

Visiting around sunset is a good time because it is not too hot and it offers great opportunities for taking sunset shoots too.

We then went onto the Kelong Walk. It is named so because it is built above water on kelong-like stilts. Anglers can be seen lining the walk, each waiting patiently for their catch. I can never be an angler because my level of patience is near zero. As I always tell my husband, of the many virtues that I do not have, patience is definitely one of them.

The walk is approximately 2.2 km, which takes an estimated walking time of around 45 minutes, accounting for a leisurely walking pace and time for taking pictures.

Bunny and Pony

Here's an IQ question: 1, 2, 4, 8- what comes after that?

Good. Now that you have got it, here's another IQ question. Dinner- what comes after that? Bingo! Dessert, of course!

After dinner in the vicinity, we decided to get some dessert and chanced about this interesting cafe Bunny & Pony.

Cosy interior with friendly servers.

The Waffle with a Scoop of Ice Cream ($8.40) was an utter disappointment. There is a thin line between creating a waffle with a crispy exterior and creating a burnt one. This was a case of the latter. Crispy, yes. But burnt, yes too. I didn't enjoy eating the waffles with a slightly burnt taste. The saving grace was the Coffee Oreo Ice Cream- rich and generous with chunks of Oreo.

Sri Sujana Nasi Lemak

I seldom venture anywhere near Changi Village because it takes forever to reach there by public transport. Last weekend, however, we decided to go to the Changi Boardwalk and had lunch at the Changi Village Market and Food Centre. Speaking of Changi Boardwalk, it was a nice escape from the daily hustle and bustle of city life- a boy roasting a small crab over a small flame, anglers who watch the world go by and families who set up camps and have picnics. A real pity though, that there was quite a bit of trash, probably swept up to the shore.

Since there was quite a queue at Sri Sujana Nasi Lemak, I decided to join the queue with my typical Singaporean mentality.

The Chicken Set ($3.50) was quite a letdown. The rice whilst fragrant with strong pandan taste, was a little too salty. The chicken wing while still hot, was a little over deep fried resulting in the meat being dry.

I also ordered Mackerel Otah ($1). The other otah was selling at 40 cents. I decided to order the mackerel otah to see where the premium was coming from. Turns out it was just pretty ordinary.

Apparently this stall has got the certification from Makansutra- but the standard of the food here just doesn't live up to its reputation.
